MESSAGE FROM OUR Chief Experience Officer

As design practitioners, we have always believed that the storytelling experience must be both seen and felt to become significant to our audience. With this goal at the forefront of our creative endeavors, we are always exploring inter-disciplinary approaches to storytelling with both analog and digital media sources. Our current areas of research focus are augmented and hybrid user experiences, visual effects, tangible user interfaces, cinema studies and optical illusions. Many of us have a deep desire to create engagement that inspires people to social action and, at heart, many of us are film geeks who love to emulate the classic narrative techniques of storytelling in our projects.

Personally, I am an alumnus of the prestigious School of Design program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. As an inducted member of the Phi Kappa Phi honors fraternity and an active member of the Triangle User Experience Association (UXPA), I am deeply committed to bridging the gap between academic theory and best practices in the field of usability research and user experience design.

Outside of my daily profession, I also serve as a volunteer media consultant for nonprofit organizations such as the Christian Alliance for Orphans. I love to spend time with my wife and children, work on screenplays and fly when I can, as a pilot in training or vicariously through drones.

Previously, I worked for over a decade in the advertising industry as a photographer, editor and motion graphics artist for various global brands, winning regional and national awards for the work. I received my joint undergraduate degree in Cognitive Psychology and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over the years, I have also served in the capacity of an entrepreneurial consultant, developing business plans and brand strategy for pharmaceutical organizations and retail products marketed to small and large chain retailers.
